Hello, all! It’s been awhile since I last blogged, but there is a lot going on and I want to put it all in one place and this seems like the perfect spot for it. This past week, news surfaced that a rather brazen coyote attacked and killed two dogs in the New Paltz area. Another woman with her dog were pursued and almost attacked several times before they were able to get to safety. This coyote was described as “unusually large” and “not like a normal coyote at all”. Our hearts are broken hearing this news and we pray for the family of these two pups. ‘Hudson Valley One’ did a story and we shared it with a warning to our community to be extra aware of your surroundings when you are out with your dogs and to not leave them unattended in the yard, even for a minute. The link can be found here:

Now, coyote sightings and attacks have happened in our area before, but the difference here is that these recent reports state that they are not scared off by humans being nearby and making loud noises. Usually, even with prey in sight, a coyote can be scared off by humans being present and making loud noises. This appears to be a more brazen-type that doesn’t scare easily. Please be aware of your surroundings when outside with your pets, do not leave them outside unattended, even with a fenced-in yard. Small dogs and cats are especially vulnerable to attacks, so please be extra vigilant.

Next month on Sunday May 20th, Benmarl Winery is having a “Wine with your pup” day at their vineyard. There will be several local vendors present, and plenty of wine to be served. A portion of the proceeds from the wine tastings will go to our cause to support our mission. You can read more about it here:

If you are unable to make it and would still like to make a financial contribution to our cause, you can do so here:

Thank you all for your continued support of our mission and please be safe out there!
