Mabel is the best part of our home. An affectionate, curious blind kitty adopted from the streets of Brooklyn about 7 years ago. A door accidentally left ajar by houseguests led her to venture outside, something she’s done once or twice before only be scooped up by us moments later. The problem is that, because she is blind, she doesn’t get that she is leaving, just thinks she’s found a new space to explore and trusts that we’ll always guide her home. We are heartbroken that we weren’t so lucky this time.
She is so loving and loves to lick! Spayed, and front claws were recently trimmed but not too short. Our vet agrees that she can see general shadows and light, but beyond that she is blind, giving her eyes an anime or puss-in-boots appearance. She was chipped by her previous owner, but when we adopted her there was ongoing confusion with the chip company. So hopefully she is registered to me, but there is a small chance she is still registered to the previous owner, who had a California area code. I’m working with our vet in Brooklyn to get confirmation.

No Sighting but please try a Have a Heart trap set with wet food. She may not be able to see but she can still smell food, esp when she is hungry. You can borrow them from the SPCA in Kingston. This is your best bet to try to get her back, along with posters all over the area to help with sightings.
