…and so are the hot and humid conditions here in the Hudson Valley and beyond. We all love to take our dogs with us on road trips and while going out to run errands. But, unfortunately, too many people leave their dogs in the car while going to run into a store, restaurant or whatever. A dog can start to suffer very quickly in a car even on a mild-temperature day. It is inhumane and downright dangerous for a dog to be left in a car on a warm/hot day even for a few minutes. Many don’t realize this and think that the dog will be “OK” since they cracked a window. Just don’t do it. Period.

Many ask what to do when they see a dog in obvious distress left in a car. Definitely call the local dog warden and also the local police. Walk into the store(s) where the car is near and have an employee page the store to alert the person(s) of this too. It is great to be able to bring our four-legged friends with us while we are out-and-about, but PLEASE use your judgement and NEVER leave them in the car while you go out to do something.
